Is getting DLC better than a Third Game & ZA's Frustrating DLC Policy

I’m personaly always hyped for when pokemon DLC is announced, because we get a whole new adventure. Slapped onto the generation. It certnaly isn’t replacing the endgame content. Games like Sword and Shield and Scarlet and Violet still had their fair share of end game content. Even though it was a bit too little. But the case isn’t so with Legends Z-A.

I did some researching post factum and found out that the reason why the DLC for Pokemon and even Donky Kong were revealed so early on. It was, because of internal delays of the switch 2. Bloomberg reports that the Switch 2 could have launched earlier.

How does DLC actually get made? Most companies don’t explain how DLC is actually made, and most players don’t care enough to dig into it. Golden Owl has an Amazing video on the topic.

So would I buy the DLC? I have to play through the whole game first in order to make that judgement. Oh yeah… my adhd brain forgot to tell you why I still haven’t finished the game. It’s because I’m playing it in Japanese. I’m using it to actually further me forward. I’m really enjoying the game in it’s original language. I love the music. I’m inlove with the characters. Sad thing is I only know their Japanese names. Like this is Deuro… this is Pyuru. I’m currently at the Mafia part of the game with that cute lil short king. And I’m really enjoying how the story unfolds. Actually the way I study from the game is actually pretty simple. I make flashcards with Anki, and now I’m switching over to Migaku (Migaku please sponsor me) I’m having the time of my life doing something real productive.

But to aslo get back to the topic of DLC vs a Third version… this doesn’t feel like a third version at all. From what I’ve seen, It feels like the rainbow rocket episode postgame in the Ultra games. My personal take on the matter is – I would much rather have DLC to a third game.
Gen 9’s dlc is my all time favorite piece of content.
The Teal Mask can be accessed very early—roughly an hour into the main game—allowing players to explore Kitakami almost immediately. I love the story around Ogerpon and it’s Momataro inspiration. The other new Momotaro pokemon are funny aswell, especially the furry dog. After finishing the main story, the same area scales to much higher levels, making it function cleanly as postgame content. I absolutely adore the Blubarry academy. I’m so glad we had a return to Unova in this generation. Gen 5 is my favourite gen, and gen 9 is my second favorite gen so It’s so cool that we got a mix between both of my favorite pokemon games. I love LOVE LOVEEE How it expands upon the Kitakami story in a new way in the Academy. The terrarium is in a way a little vertical slice of Paldea – it has all the things that make Paldea pladea – Visual bugs and all. PLUS THE ALOLA INSPIRED ERGION WITH CLAY’S DOUGHTER AS THE ONE CHALLENGING YOU THERE IS GENUIS. I love the vibes of that area and the music there with the Driftvail city leitmotife always has me coming back… to listen to the leitmotif. I LOVED THAT SONG BEFORE IT WAS COOL!
THAT BEING SAID – DLC WORKS- Because we pay less aswell. We don’t have to rebuy the same game for a second time. Instead, those who want more story, more cool music, cool new Pokémon can even carry on with their original save data and have a cool extended post-game like experience. So yeah… I wanna replay gen 9 now…
