When it comes to grief, no one's journey is the same. And in a society that tends to stigmatize death, it's important to hear more stories on the different ways people grieve. Our friend, singer-songwriter Dana Fuchs, sat down with Tess Kunik to discuss their experiences with grief after losing their respective sisters – Dana lost Donna in 1999, and Tess lost Liv in 2019. They both touch the pain they felt during the period after friends have stopped checking in regularly, or as Tess puts it, when the casseroles stop coming. Watch to hear more.
If you or someone you know is having suicidal thoughts, engaging in suicidal behaviors, or are planning a suicide attempt, seek help immediately. Reach out to an adult you trust, like a parent, doctor, or counselor, and be honest with them about how you are feeling. You can recover from suicidal feelings with the right support.
To talk to someone now, text HOME to 741-741 or call 1-800-273-TALK (8255) for a free confidential conversation with a trained counselor. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, text or call 988.
