Stabilo Woodies, Mixed Media for Big Kids–Tutorial Tidbits

This week I am playing with one of my favorite art supplies, Stabilo Woodies. These 3-in-1 pencils were originally marketing toward children, they are stubby, sturdy, and colorful. Recently they have taken off with mixed media artists and today we will explore the watercolor, colored pencil, and crayon-like properties that make them so versatile.

Stabilo Woodies are opaque, and require no tooth–they will write on glass, wood, metal, ceramic, and even on top of collage glue! I often use them for mark making on top of my mixed media work and then I set them with a spray varnish and seal them with a brush varnish (both acrylic).
