Deviate Claymore Artist Edition :
“There can be only one…”

The Deviate Claymore Artist Edition is the collaboration between Scottish frame manufacturer Deviate Cycles, artist Douglas Roulston and custom bike company JMJ Designs.

• The frame: The Claymore is a 165mm travel Enduro bike which leverages a high pivot point suspension system
• The scenery: The stunning scene depicted on the frame and forks is inspired by the Cairngorms. This is the work of Douglas Roulston - a Scottish based artist and mountain biker
• The finishing: JMJ Designs worked closely with Douglas to select the perfect finishing touches to the frame, with gold leaf used for the logos and even rear shock spring

The Cairngorms - or more specifically Aviemore - is a place of particular significance for Scottish-based Deviate Cycles as it was here that (now) co-owners Ben Jones and Chris Deverson would go on to set the future direction of the company.

“Chris and I were running a guided mtb trip from Aviemore to Braemar back in 2016 with a group we knew well. Chris was chatting about the frame prototypes he’d been working on when they suggested he needed someone to help drive the business side forward - that’s when he asked me. It was a pretty seminal moment as I’d probably done this trip 100s of times before but this was the first time Chris had joined me for it. We pretty much hashed out the first draft of the business plan right there on that trip.

Fast forward 6 years to 2022 and we had something of a landmark year. The Claymore received fantastic reviews, including being selected as Pinkbike’s ‘Enduro Race Bike Of Choice’. We wanted to create something that celebrated this milestone by combining it with a place of particular significance for the brand” - Ben Jones, Deviate Cycles Ltd.

The artwork flows from the frame to the forks and every component has been carefully selected to enhance the design. An accompanying video documenting the story behind this frame will be coming in May/June so keep your eyes peeled on their websites and social channels to find out more.
