Der Geher in Hamburg: Rothenburgsort

Описание: I am Der Geher and today the district Rothenburgsort is on the program. From the Elbe island of Kaltehofe, we walk to the Billwerder Bucht barrier and along the Ausschläger Elbe dike into the district. Between residential buildings you will find small stores and the churches of St. Thomas and St. Erich. After the Rothenburgsort train station, the Bille Canal and the Bullenhuser Damm memorial follow toward the end of the path.

A large part of Rothenburgsort has belonged to Hamburg since 1385 and has been diked since 1494. The Rodenborg family around Councilman Johann owned these lands until the family died out in 1742. In 1894 there were already 40,000 inhabitants in the area and Billwerder Ausschlag was elevated to a city district together with the island of Kaltehofe. The Kaltehofe waterworks are well worth a visit. A mixture of monument, museum and nature trail.
