Описание: I think each of us has someone like that in our group of friends – the one who’s always late, but whose excuses are so absurd that it’s hard to get mad at them. Do you have someone like that among you? 😂 My friend Filip is exactly that person. From high school to this day, he’s never arrived on time for any meeting, but every time he has an explanation that makes us laugh until we cry. Recently, we organized a trip to the forest with our group: me, Filip, Anna, and Michał. We agreed to meet at 9 a.m. at the gas station, but we knew – Filip would never be on time.
At 9:15, Anna was already getting angry: “As always! You tell him to come on time, and he’s late as usual. We’ll spend the whole day waiting for him!”. Michał smiled: “Wait a little longer, he definitely has some ‘brilliant’ excuse. Remember last year, he was late to Anna’s birthday party because his cat ‘ruined’ his shoes?”. I smiled too – Filip never lacked imagination when it came to making up reasons for being late.

Finally, Filip showed up at 9:45, covered in dust, with messy hair and a scarf on backwards. “Sorry, sorry!”, he shouted, breathing heavily. “I couldn’t come on time because on my way to the station, I met an old lady who lost her dog. I helped her look for him, and then my bike broke down – the chain snapped. I had to fix it in the middle of the road, and then it started raining, so I had to find shelter. I really couldn’t do anything else!”, he said with such sincere kindness that it was hard not to believe him.

Anna opened her mouth, about to say something, but Michał interrupted her: “Filip, you haven’t had a bike in six months. Your car is parked right here, I can see it through the window!”. Filip hesitated for a moment, then smiled widely: “Oh, right? Well, maybe I confused it with my bike. Maybe it was my old bike that I think I still have. Well, the most important thing is that I’m here!”. We all laughed until we cried – even Anna, who was angry a moment ago, couldn’t help smiling.

I think that’s the best thing about Filip – even his absurd excuses are so likable that we can’t get mad at him. He knows we know he’s lying, but he always tries to make up something new, something that makes us laugh. After the trip, during lunch in the forest, I said to him: “Filip, you’re the only person in the world who can be late and do it so likably that everyone forgives you.” He smiled: “Well, who wants to be boring? Better to be late with humor than punctual and boring!”, he replied, handing me a cheese sandwich.

And now I ask you – Do you have someone like that among you? 😂 Someone who’s always late but has an excuse for everything? Someone who can make even the most annoying things so likable that you can’t get mad at them? I have such a friend, and I’m very happy that he’s in my group – because without him, our meetings would be boring and emotionless.
