Queensland’s dream of hosting rowing at Fitzroy River for 2032 Olympics faces uncertainty

Queensland Premier David Crisafulli has remained confident that the Fitzroy River in Rockhampton will host the 2032 Olympics rowing and canoeing.
Although, his dream could be crushed if World Rowing President Jean-Christophe Rolland inspects the site and claims it is not a viable option.
A report from the Queensland government recommended Queensland drop Rockhampton and opt for a Sydney venue instead, claiming it lacks the infrastructure and accommodation for a world-class event.
“It has been used for many, many decades, it has been used safely, it’s been used effectively, and it’s going to be used on the world's stage,” Mr Crisafulli said.
“If it’s good enough for our kids to row on it every weekend, it's good enough for international athletes to row on it.”
