CATHOLIC CHURCH IN ARIZONA HEAVILY DAMAGED IN FIRE | SG NEWS

Описание: A blazing fire destroyed the insides of St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Casa Grande, Arizona, in the early hours of October 18. The fire, which broke out just after midnight, was put out quickly by the firefighters. However, it caused significant damage to the altar and surrounding areas. The possibility of arson has not been ruled out, and the Casa Grande Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.

In a Facebook post, Parish priest Fr Ariel wrote, “We will work hard to fix everything up as fast as possible so we can use our beautiful church again. Together, we will rise to this challenge.” He expressed his gratitude to the person who alerted the authorities and the first responders who brought the fire under control. Services are currently being held uninterrupted at the parish community center.

Reverend Edward J. Weisenburger, Bishop of Tucson, in his letter to the parish community, stated that the damage to the church was a wound that “strikes deeply to the soul.” He assured his prayers and every assistance in rebuilding the church.

Built in 1935, St. Anthony of Padua is the only Catholic church in Casa Grande. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
