Battery-powered electric vehicles (EVs) are considered as the most preferred future mode of ground transportation due to their environmental and technological advantages such as no combustion emissions in engine, reduced consumption of fossil fuel and less requirements of maintenance.
1. The goal of our project:
To understand the potential environmental impacts of a Lithium-Ion Battery cell from cradle to gate, so as to provide data and information to support sustainable development of current Lithium-Ion Battery manufacture technology for Electric Vehicles.
2. The life cycle of the battery pack is divided into 4 stages:Including material extraction, material processing, component manufacturing and battery manufacturing.
3. System boundary (scope):
A cradle-to-gate system boundary that includes those materials and energies as well as wastes and emissions directly associated with the battery pack’s manufacturing cycle activities.
4. Functional Unit:
Driving 100 km in Electric Vehicles powered by Lithium-ion Battery
