Mastering a Song to Be LOUD (In Logic Pro X)

Описание: Mastering your track to be loud is very important, especially if you plan on putting it on Spotify or Apple Music. When you master your song it should be between -14 to -8 LUFS in order to compete with other tracks made by other artists. Today I take you through my mastering chain so that you can get an idea of how I master my songs.

There are a few necessary steps to be taken before just slapping a limiter on your project. Remember that we aren't just going for loudness in terms of volume, but also perceived loudness. What we want to think about is how the listener will perceive our song. We also want to keep the dynamics so adding multiband compression and boosting certain frequencies prior to limiting is always advisable.

It is of the utmost importance that you have a well-mixed track and a decently loud mix before you move on to the mastering stage. If you run into issues such as clipping (distortion) when mastering, it is most likely because something went awry in the mixing stage. Go back and make sure you leveled the track properly (this is 85% of the mixing in my opinion).

Once you feel like you have a well-mixed song, you can move on to the stereo bus. In my chain, I include an EQ, multiband compressor, SSL E-Channel Strip, Stereo enhancer, and a limiter. This is a pretty simple and basic mastering chain, but it will get you introduced to mastering and using the right plugins to get great results.
