The UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon has recently launched "Education First" as a priority for his second term. This initiative seeks to bring together all UN agencies involved in education, bilateral agencies and the private sector to help attain the international development goals in the field of education.

With Dubai's strategic status as a geographic and demographic crossroads, it is in a prime position to host this two-day event that will explore how governments and the private sector can work together in constructive partnerships to jump-start much-needed efforts that will place education first. It will provide an open forum to explore how to create real, sustainable and scalable change at global and local levels. A particular focus will be on how to develop an enabling environment for effective partnerships, including a regulatory framework that ensures access, quality, relevance and equity.

The aim of the forum is to expose the role of public and private partnerships in education and introduce policymakers to lessons from international evidence . It will also ignite and incubate exciting new partnerships. Attendance to the event will provide unparalleled networking opportunities, bringing together participants from many countries, including leaders from business, government, international organisations and civil society. Speakers and panelists will be made up of Heads of Government, Ministers, Board Chairs and Chief Executives of businesses, researchers, multi-lateral agencies and NGOs.

The macro-environment created by the UAE government exemplifies how the private and public sector can work effectively together, providing an education system that truly puts the student and their families first. We look forward to welcoming all esteemed delegates in Dubai.
