I was handed a 100-year-old beam of rare, old growth, longleaf pine and was told:
“Make something beautiful.”
No pressure, right?
This forgotten piece of wood had survived a century — dusty, cracked, and loaded with history. But instead of cutting it into something ordinary, I took a risk… and turned it into a flowing, living sculpture. What started as a heavy old block became a piece of functional art: a natural landscape with real running water, carefully carved channels, and tiny living plants growing from its surface.
This video shows every step of the build — from sanding down decades of grime to hiding a pump, hose, and battery system inside the beam. It’s part woodworking, part engineering, and part nature-inspired sculpture. And I’m proud to say… it actually works.
If you love:

Let’s bring this ancient piece of wood back to life.
