it was only a 20-25 minute drive from my hotel to this place so it was quite okay.

The place is huge! but basically you can divide batu caves into 5 different parts:
1) Ground floor where there are 2 temples to enter and the big statue
2) Middle cave Temple when you get to the top of the stairs there is a cave with a temple inside
3) Top cave Temple there is a big cave area with a cut out on top of the ceiling so natural light will shine down
4) Situated on the ground floor and you should go to the left (there is the cave villa and another temple there) Also you can also order Grab rides and wait there.
5) If you're facing the big statue up front go to the right there are a lot of shops and restaurants which you can explore.
