Montigny-sur-Armançon is a French commune located in the Côte-d'Or department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. Its inhabitants are the Montignarmançonnais.
It was a seigniory seat in the Middle Ages; at its center stood the fortified house of Montigny-sur-Armançon.
At the end of the 17th century, Antoine Chartraire (1639-1716) inherited his contiguous lordships of Bierre-lès-Semur and Montigny-sur-Armançon from his uncle François Bazin. In October 1706, Antoine's son, François Chartraire, obtained the elevation of the lordships of Bierre and Montigny into the County of Montigny, in favor of his son Marc-Antoine Chartraire de Montigny. The Chartraire family held this county until the Revolution.
