American Pygmy Goat is known as
the smallest goat Breed in the world.
The American Pygmy is an American breed of achondroplastic goat. It is small, compact and stockily built. Like the Nigerian Dwarf, it derives from the West African Dwarf group of breeds of West Africa.
it's originated in America.
The pygmy is small, cobby and compact and is not fine-boned like the dairy breeds or Nigerian Dwarfs Pygmies are bred to be “cobby” and heavy boned. Breed characteristics of the Pygmy include a full coat of straight, medium-long hair which varies in density with seasons and climates.
Pygmy goats get the nickname of dwarf goats for their compact size, only growing up to 20 inches high. Their weight ranges from 35 to 50 pounds for females and forty to 60 pounds for males.
Males sixteen to 23 inches tall while Females sixteen to 22 inches tall
Pygmy goats are friendly, resilient and intelligent. They make a good impression on zoo visitors who pet them. Males produce a strong, musky odor to attract females, especially during breeding season. Their scent gland is on the crown of their head.
In some areas, the pygmy goat is the perfect livestock animal. It's small and compact, meaning that it doesn't burn through a lot of resources. It's also agile, which helps it keep awey from predators and find food. It can provide its owners with milk and, if needed, meat.
