As Founder of The Collins Institute for Child & Family Systems and leader of the Family Systems Innovation Lab (FSIL), Dr. Collins advances equity-driven reform focused on improving decision-making, accountability, and workforce stability within child welfare systems. Her work bridges frontline practice and policy scholarship — grounded in over a decade of experience in state systems reform.

🧠 A published scholar and policy voice, Dr. Collins’ forthcoming peer-reviewed article in the Journal of Public Child Welfare examines how media portrayals of African American women accused of filicide shape public perception and child welfare practice. She also has two policy-focused articles forthcoming in Children’s Voice (Child Welfare League of America), addressing risk-based prioritization and workforce reform.
