Over 12 years ago, I found out that I could make money online and I was instantly hooked! eBay was one of the first platforms that I had major success with, so in this video I’ll teach you some of the tips and tricks I’ve learned throughout my time as an ebay powerseller.

First step is actually choosing the right item to sell, and unless you don’t mind losing money doing a little bit of research first will go a long way. By research I simply mean checking to make sure that the item you’re interested in selling is actually selling on ebay and for how much. Then you can do some quick estimates of how much you will pay for shipping + ebay fees + payment processing fees, and then you’ll have a rough estimate of how much profit you’ll make by listing the item.

Second step is to make sure that people can actually find your listing, and you can do this easily by optimizing your title and description. Just like people do SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for their websites to rank higher on google, you would do similar with your ebay listings to rank higher on ebay.

Third step is to make sure your listings STAND OUT with photography now this step is really simply to do right but I see people messing it up all the time especially beginners.. The main thing you want to do when taking a photo of your item is to make sure the lighting is good, and to do it on a clean surface like a table with no distractions in the background. And here’s a FREE PRO TIP, that will separate you from 95% of other sellers. When taking photos, put a piece of paper next to the item with your ebay username written on it, so that people can know that this is actually your item and you really did take this photo. This will increase buyer’s confidence in you by a ton, and thus you will get more bidders on your listing. More bidders = MORE MONEY, so thank me later or just smash the like button now ; )

Fourth step is what selling format to choose? The two main options on ebay are Buy It Now or Auction Style Listing. Buy it now is a great option especially if you’re in a rush to sell your item fast and need the money quicker. But the most popular listing format on ebay is by far the auction style listing, and statistically speaking if done right, auctions tend to get you more cash than if you’d have done a buy it now listing. Because auctions bring in more viewers, and entices more customers to watch your listing. I recommend starting most auctions at 99 cents and doing 7 day listings, this gets A TON of people to watch and bid on your listing which results in you making more money!

Fifth and final step is shipping, now for this the safest option is to choose fixed rate economy because no buyer wants to guess how much shipping is, so with a fixed rate they’ll know exactly how much it cost and by choosing economy it gives you the freedom to use any carrier you prefer like UPS, FedEx, or USPS.
