Donald Schön did a lot of work on REFLECTIVE PRACTICE and divides it into three categories:

1. Knowing-in-action: using your current knowledge and skills when involved in a specific skill.

2. Reflecting-in-action: reflecting in the moment whilst involved in a specific skill.

3. Reflecting-on-action: reflecting on how you performed your skill and preparing to improve.
