Very simple batter makes the best deep-fried biscuits.
Here's the recipe:
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup water -- add additional water to make a batter that easily slips off the spoon
Fry in vegetable oil (about 1/2 inch in skillet at 375 degrees)
These are just as good warmed up in the toaster oven. They also freeze well.
