The del operator (∇) is generally practiced in vector calculus to obtain derivatives in higher dimensions.
∇⋅∇f=∇^2f : divergence of the gradient, too identified as the Laplacian
∇⋅∇F=∇^2F : vector Laplacian, equal to the Laplacian of each component of the vector
∇×∇f=0 : curl of the gradient, always equal to 0
∇(∇⋅F) : Gradient of the divergence
∇⋅(∇×F)=0 : divergence of curl, always equal to 0
∇×(∇×F)=∇(∇⋅F)−∇^2F : The curl of the curl
