Homemade Southern Biscuits with Sausage, Gravy and Scrambled Eggs
Southern Biscuits
Ingredients:
2 cups self rising flour
¼ cup shortening
2 Tbsp cold butter
¾ cup buttermilk
Directions:
Add the flour, shortening, butter to a bowl.
Cut the shortening and butter into the flour
Add the buttermilk and mix
Turn the dough out on a floured surface
Knead the dough several times
Cut the biscuits and place in a greased pan
Cook in a preheated 450 degree oven for 8 to 10 minutes

Southern Gravy
Ingredients:
3 Tbsp melted butter or oil
3 Tbsp flour
2 cups milk
Directions:
Put the butter in a skillet and melt
Add the flour and stir to create a rue
Cook for at least one minute
Add ½ of the milk and stir well
Add the rest of the milk and stir
Heat to a slow simmer and continue to stir
Simmer for one to two minutes until desired thickness
Gravy will continue to thicken as it cools down
