Season 5 of Weeds opens with Nancy Botwin facing the consequences of her own decisions and still somehow acting shocked that her life is in danger.
Esteban spares Nancy for now, not because she is smart or calculated, but because she has managed to make herself useful. Mom and I talk about Nancy’s unbelievable ability to stumble into survival, her talent for making every situation worse, and how each so-called plan creates even more chaos.
The pregnancy reveal does not help her case. If anything, it becomes another example of manipulation, denial, and classic Nancy logic that refuses to take responsibility for anything. We get into whether this is the moment Nancy fully crosses from complicated anti-hero into someone actively rooting against herself.
Meanwhile, Celia’s situation in Mexico somehow manages to be both ridiculous and oddly deserved, which feels very on-brand for Weeds.
