Leon Lloyd, 23, had only just picked up the second-hand Subaru Impreza when he was pulled over by police for driving without insurance on the A361 in Devon. Despite appearing to stop in a lay-by Lloyd slams on the accelerator and speeds off along the busy road with the police car in pursuit. Lloyd, who is driving without insurance, leads officers on a high speed chase and travels nine miles between South Molton and Tiverton in under five minutes. But when the green estate car, which Lloyd has just picked up from Bude, Cornwall, reaches 137mph, it blows up. Plumes of smoke envelope the road, forcing the police car to slow down, before dashcam footage shows the green car stopped at the side of the road.
