허달재 Huh Dal Jae
허달재는 의재 허백련 선생의 손자이다. 그는 매화를 비롯하여 모란, 포도 등 전통적인 소재들을 현대적으로 재해석하여 전통과 현대의 적절한 조합을 끌어내어 신 남종화라는 장르를 개척해 냈다. 특히 작가의 '매화' 작품은 여백의 미와 화면 전체에 흩뿌려진 꽃잎을 통해 작가만의 필치와 문인화 정신의 조화를 보여준다.
A grandson of Huh Baek Ryeon, Huh Dal Jae pioneered a genre dubbed the New Southern School painting to create a balanced combination of tradition and modernity by reinterpreting traditional subjects such as plum blossoms, peonies, and grapes from a contemporary viewpoint. Huh Dal Jae’s Plum Blossoms, in particular, shows his unique strokes in harmony with the spirit of the literati painting through the beauty of blank space and petals scattered across the entire canvas.
