Born in the Basque Country and riding for the Pukas Surf Team, he was shaped by cold Atlantic swells and raw coastline. He stepped away from the competitive scene—not out of rebellion, but out of curiosity.

What followed were years of solo surf travel to places most surfers never think to go. Journeys without a crew, without a plan.

Just a board, a backpack, and a camera.

It all came together in his project “5 Olas, 5 Continentes” – a mission to surf five waves across five continents.

But Kepa’s mission isn’t just about chasing waves. It’s about tracing stories. Meeting people, listening, and learning.

Finding surf in the quiet corners of the world, and documenting it with an honesty that stays with you.

A near-fatal accident in Mundaka in 2017 changed everything. A broken neck and a rebirth.

Since then, gratitude has become part of his rhythm: slower, deeper, more present.

Last month, his path brought him to the Swiss Alps—to Alaïa Bay, Europe’s premier wave pool. A different kind of wild, but still the same search.
