For decades, Japanese anime was the undisputed king of 2D, mastering emotion and style in a way no one else could.
But now, Chinese animation (donghua) has exploded onto the scene, using incredible 3D/2D hybrid styles. The fluidity of their fight scenes and the dynamic camera work are just on another level.
Now, all these styles are competing and inspiring each other. It's just a great time to be an animation fan.
