This was obviously a rough day for some folks, but in the end everyone was okay. For the 4 of us who were on our first lap, we still had a blast.

Self critique that didn't make it into the video: I struggled to get my rope out of this borrowed boat quickly. After the first swim, I clipped the rope into my boat with a locking carabiner instead of using the boat's bungee, and it was still way too slow to access. I do not yet have a solution for when I'm not in my boat (my ropes are secured with quick-release buckles in my boat for this reason.

For the first swim, I got out immediately with a rope on the opposite side of the river from the first rope, and it cost us the chance to snag the paddle and possibly the boat a lot earlier. I had that in mind with the second swim once the swimmer seemed secure. That was clearly wrong. I don't know that I'd act differently if I saw this again; it really did look to me like the swimmer was secured, but this is certainly now something I'm thinking about.
