Ranked Race online - Round 1

Track: Spa-Francorchamps
Class: GTE Championship
Car: Dodge SRT Viper GTS-R

This is the first round event from the GTE Championship Class which takes place at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.

With a clear disadvantage in power compared to its rivals in the GTE car class, I looked to set up the Viper GTS-R primarily for speed during Qualifying. And of course the trade-off added difficulty in handling and driveability. There is currently minimal downforce on the rear end of the Viper in the way I have it set up, and it's prone to oversteer and possibly spin out very easy if not careful with the throttle. I feel that these are the type of chances I have to take for the sole purpose of getting more speed out of this car. So was I successful to get the Viper GTS-R on top at Spa?

In short, not a chance!

The race leaders blown right by me outright from the beginning, setting a pace I couldn't match. And things got worse for me during the middle of the race as I had major issues keeping the Viper on the road, adjusting my driving to accommodate for the gradual loss of grip from the rear tires. It really felt like I was trying to drive fast on ice at this point! 🤦‍♂️
