June 22. Winter solstice in the Southern Hemisphere. 14 hours of darkness. 2300 meters up, no way down. Wind? 45 km/h. Cold? Minus 10. No fire. No hut. No out. Just snow, ice, rock… one exposed ridge. And the sound of our tent flapping like it wanted to escape more than we did…
Everyone says outdoors is full of suffering and all of us have felt pain before—blisters, physical #exhaustion #selfdoubt But It wasn’t the cold or wind that broke me. It was trying to fall asleep… …while my brain whispered “You are not safe”.
We weren’t trying to be heroes. But this night taught us what #psychological fear really feels like— when you’ve got no choice but to fight, hour-by-hour, to stay calm in chaos. Because sometimes, the real mountain…is inside your head.
