(01) (Boast not thyself of to morrow) — Don’t brag on tomorrow or the dust you’ll kick up, you don’t know the dregs at the bottom of the cup
(02) (Let another man praise thee) — Let a stranger give honor, let the neighbors tell the tale, if you ring your own bell, your own spirit will fail
(03) (A stone is heavy... but a fool's wrath is heavier) — Now, sand is a burden and a stone is a load; but a fool’s provocation is a harder road
(05-06) (Open rebuke is better than secret love) — Better a friend who’ll wound you with truth, than an enemy’s kiss in the days of your youth
(07) (The full soul loatheth an honeycomb) — To the man who is full, even honey tastes sour, but the hungry find sweet in the bitterest flower
(08) (As a bird that wandereth from her nest) — The bird leaves the nest and he’s lost in the sky, but a man stays a man till the day that he dies
(10) (Thine own friend... forsake not) — And don’t leave your kin, or your father’s old friend, when the storm breaks the wood and the fences all bend
(11) (My son, be wise, and make my heart glad) — So make my heart glad, son, and walk with the wise, so I have an answer for the devil’s own lies
(12) (A prudent man foreseeth the evil) — The shrewd man sees danger and hides in the brush, the simpleton wanders and dies in the rush
(15-16) (A contentious woman... like catching the wind) — Watch who you marry, find a soul that is still, ‘cause a quarrelsome wife is a leak you can’t fill; she’ll wash out the home that you built on the sand
(17) (Iron sharpeneth iron) — This is Proverbs and Iron, sharpening the soul, so one man guides his friend to the goal
