Film Description: Set in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles, KILLER OF SHEEP is an artful drama that follows a slaughterhouse worker through a series of poetic vignettes. Feeling increasingly alienated, Stan struggles to balance his work and personal life in this stunning film about members of the Black working class. Among the film’s highlights are its candid portrayals of children at play and a masterfully deployed soundtrack featuring such legends as Dinah Washington and Paul Robeson. Filmed in the early 1970’s, the film was not released nationally until 2007 when it received a restoration by the UCLA Film Archives.
