An incredibly close call—technically an accident—happened 47 years ago at Sydney Airport when a TAA Boeing 727 struck the tail fin of a Canadian Pacific Airlines DC-8 as it was taking off.
So how were both aeroplanes on the same runway at the same time? Doug Spiers, the first officer of the TAA aircraft, talks to Flight Safety Australia about what happened on that dark and rainy night.
