Описание: Nicholas Cop, rector of the University of Paris, delivered his All Saints Day address at this church in 1533 (according to my source, Nicholas Farelly). Calvin was friends with Cop, and in all likelihood wrote the speech for Cop. It was an exposition of the Beatitudes, "Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven." He proceeded to expose the vast abuses of the church and clergy, such as simony, and then moved to key doctrinal errors of the church, such as transubstantiation, pilgrimage, and other forms of works righteousness. The Catholic elites were enraged. Cop was forced to flee back to his home in Basil Switzerland, and when word got out that Calvin had written the speech, he was a hunted man. he fled Paris disguised as a vinter.
