Main Ingredients
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 large onions, thinly sliced (about 400 g)
500 g steak, cut into strips
1 bell pepper, chopped
1 small chili pepper, chopped (optional)
10 g garlic, minced
250 g diced tomatoes
Spices
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon cardamom
Garnish
Fresh parsley, chopped
🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Caramelize the Onions
Heat a wok or large pan over medium heat.
Add the butter and vegetable oil.
Once melted, add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until soft and golden brown — about 15 minutes.
Remove the onions and set aside.
2️⃣ Sear the Steak
Using the same pan, increase heat to medium-high.
Add the steak strips and sear until browned on all sides. Avoid overcrowding the pan to get a good sear.
3️⃣ Build the Flavor
Return the caramelized onions to the pan.
Add the bell pepper, chili pepper (if using), and garlic. Stir well.
4️⃣ Season & Simmer
Sprinkle in cumin, black pepper, salt, and cardamom.
Stir to coat everything evenly.
Add the diced tomatoes and cook for 2 minutes, allowing the flavors to come together.
5️⃣ Garnish & Serve
Finish with fresh parsley.
