Police officers, security guards, sheriff’s deputies, probation officers, parole officers, ccw/chl permit holders, and anyone else who carries a gun on a regular basis should carry a tourniquet on their duty belt as part of their edc. If you have a blow out kit there should be an extra tourniquet inside it as well.

As a field training officer (FTO) I'm constantly trying to convince an often reluctant crowd of probationary police officers, rookie cops, security and police administrators, and old salt cops that vests and tk's save lives. both should be part of your on duty every day carry (edc).

Police, security, and ccw training needs to include not only experience and anecdotal evidence, but the latest available scientific data as well.

The data doesn’t lie. TK's save lives. Tourniquets have been proven in combat the world over in the past ten years and are saving lives daily around the world.

This video shouldn't take the place of a good self aid buddy aid class. But, it should help to dispel some of the myths and mystery surrounding effective critical incident emergency first aid.
