CHP, DMV launch program to fast-track license suspensions for extreme speeding

Описание: The California Highway Patrol has rolled out a new pilot program designed to stop extreme speeding by speeding up the punishment. Working with the California Department of Motor Vehicles, CHP can now automatically forward tickets for drivers caught going more than 100 miles per hour directly to the DMV. Under the FAST program — Forwarded Actions for Speeding Tickets — the DMV can quickly review a driver’s record and suspend or revoke their license in as little as one day, rather than waiting weeks or months for a court conviction. Officials say each case is reviewed individually, with factors like prior speeding or reckless driving taken into account. CHP says about 1,600 drivers each month are caught driving more than 100 mph in California, and more than 18,000 triple-digit speeding tickets were issued in 2024 alone.
