The Banded Terminal Knee Extension (TKE) with the affected leg back is a key rehab exercise we use at Good Vibes Physio to strengthen the quadriceps, improve knee control, and restore full knee straightening — especially after knee injury or surgery.
This setup puts the band pulling the knee forward, teaching you to actively straighten and own the last bit of extension where many people feel weak, hesitant, or unstable.
We use this exercise in physio and rehab programs to help people:
✅ Restore full knee extension (lockout)
✅ Strengthen the quadriceps
✅ Improve knee stability and confidence
✅ Support walking, stairs, squatting, and return to sport
How to do it:
Anchor a resistance band behind you and loop it around the back of your affected knee.
Step back so the band is pulling your knee slightly forward.
Bend the knee a little, then straighten it fully against the band, squeezing your quad hard at the end range.
Strong squeeze. Full lockout. Stay controlled.
At Good Vibes Physio, we don’t just wait for knees to “come back” — we train them to get strong where it matters.
If your knee feels weak, unstable, or doesn’t want to fully straighten, this is a perfect place to start — but the right plan still matters.
