Aizu is untapped and well worth visiting for its consistent snowfall, uncrowded resorts, no lift lines and very little western influence. If you’re looking to get away from the high profile resorts and explore somewhere more authentic, Aizu is the best choice.
Inawashiro features a number of wide slopes, as well as outstanding tree skiing at the summit. The resort’s size means there is always good powder to be found (many slopes are south facing, though, so they can become soft in the sun). When the snow is good, this is the place to enjoy the longest tree run in the Aizu area. Lift access is not straightforward, though, with multiple lifts needed to get to the top (and the patrol is tough on enforcing local rules!). To really enjoy Inawashiro, using one of the local guides is highly recommended.
