This is pedestrian crossing at Deer Park station. It's located on the up end for trains travelling to Melbourne to help passengers get from the platform to the station carpark. No pedestrian crossing is needed for down trains on the other track.
The nearby Mt Derrimut Road level crossing is included in the Victorian government's list of level crossings to be removed, and as part of the plan Deer Park station will be rebuilt as an elevated station. This will most likely result in the pedestrian crossing being grade separated also. Construction is set to start in late 2021, and is expected to be finished by 2024
