Roughly around 6.30pm, the Larbre Compétition Porsche 911 (996) GT3-R collides with the Jean-Luc Maury-Laribiere Porsche 911 (996) GT3-R at the Esses. One of the Porsches was on the middle of the track and it required a full-course yellow. The Safety car is out and everyone dives into the pits.
At 6.56pm, the #56 Konrad Motorsport/ Racing for Holland Lola B2K/10 (driven by Tom Coronel loses a tyre then evitably it would retire from the race. He would run out to retreive the missing tyre!
At 8.20pm, it was announced that Tom Coronel has been disqualified. This is down to a tough decision by the organisers.. Apparently within the regulations it is illegal for the driver to move further than 50 metres from the car in an emergency so Tom tramping off into the wilds to recover the wheel that fell off. It seems a bit harsh to us but rules are rules.
At 7.43pm, Laurent Aiello loses his Audi R8 as it got unbalanced after hitting the outside kerb at Indianapolis and spun into the barriers. Thankfully there was no damage. He would continue in the lead but lost 15 seconds as a result from the spin.
