“We're standing here near an apartment that was hit last night by an Iranian rocket. Those rockets were carried in a large ballistic missile, a cluster bomb. That cluster bomb separated to dozens of smaller rockets and spread out on kilometers in the center of Israel. The Iranians are strategically, purposely targeting Israeli civilians using weapons that are a war crime to be used against civilians, firing dozens of rockets in every single missile against Israeli civilians. This attack killed an elderly couple at the age of 70 in central Israel.“

STORYLINE:
Two elderly Israelis were killed overnight during an Iranian missile attack in central Israel, according to an Israeli army spokesperson.

The interior of their apartment, in Ramat Gan, east of Tel Aviv, showed extensive damage.

“That cluster bomb separated to dozens of smaller rockets and spread out on kilometers in the center of Israel,“ said military spokesperson Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani.

“The Iranians are strategically, purposely targeting Israeli civilians," he added and called it "a war crime" to use such weapons on civilians.

Israel killed two senior Iranian security officials in a major blow to the country’s leadership.

Iran, which confirmed both killings, renewed its attacks Wednesday on its Gulf Arab neighbors and Israel.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the deaths of Ali Larijani, the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, and Gen. Gholam Reza Soleimani, the head of the Revolutionary Guard’s all-volunteer Basij force.

Larijani was considered one of the most powerful figures in the country since Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed on the first day of the war.
