In this lecture we introduce two notions of convergence for a sequence of real-valued functions. They are: uniform convergence and pointwise convergence. The former utilized the sup-norm, defined in the previous lecture, and roughly states that the values of the function converge at the same rate for every value in the domain. The latter again gives that the value of the function converges for every point in the domain, although not necessarily at the same rate. A number of examples are provided to better illustrate these two different notions of convergence to better motivate the definitions.
