We are often asked what are some of the tools we use to dry wet carpet. Next to a moisture meter, air movers are one of the most common tools used in the remediation industry. Air movers, or sometimes called blowers, have multiple speeds, and they're designed to efficiently move air across wet surfaces, thereby accelerating evaporation.
Using multiple air movers at once keeps the air circulating and decreases drying time. Now, if you've ever dealt with a wet carpet, you know it takes forever to completely dry. Whether your carpet is wet due to flooding caused by a broken pipe, supply line, sprinkler system, or some other circumstance, you're standard house fan won't do the trick.
Strategically placing air movers over and under a carpet will accelerate the drying time. If you have a significant amount of water, an air mover alone may not be enough. Hidden moisture in carpet pads, sub-floors, wall cavities, and insulation is often overlooked. The moisture over time will cause secondary issues like mold and dry rot that can lead to bigger problems down the road.
