A radio scanner picks up some chatter on the Canadian Pacific Railway channel on March 15, 2016. The video starts with a defect detector giving its report on the northbound train CP 475. Next is 475's conductor repeating a warrant to the dispatcher. The third and fourth clips have the conductor and the dispatcher discussing an "extra car" on 475.
At 1:17 and 3:28, the dispatcher calls the SOO 4409 North. That was the last northbound on this line, as seen here: • SOO Geep Leads Long Hood Forward on CP Rai... .
The gates start going down at 3:34 as 475 finally shows up and passes through the County Highway H17 crossing located near Competine, Iowa. The camera pans on the fourth car. This gondola, CP 337240, is the "extra car" mentioned in the radio chatter. It's part of a string of forty-one gondolas filled with scrap that make up the start of this mixed freight.
