Описание: I have no biographical information about M. G. Crosa, other than he or she was an organist in Newton-Abbot in England. This gorgeous Song without Words was included in the volume “Parnasse des Organistes du XXme Siècle—Pièces pour Orgue ou Harmonium à l’usage du Service Divin.” Edited or at least introduced by Louis Raffy, the collection includes 30 works “crowned” at the Concours International in 1911. (The book is available on IMSLP.) The three-page piece by Crosa is marked “Andante con expressione,” without any registrations. I begin with bass Diapason and treble Voix Celeste, adding the 4’ rank, then the 8’ Corno/Contrabasso rank, and Full Organ briefly toward the end. The instrument heard here is a 1915 chapel organ built by Mason & Hamlin: Style 93BF, No. 239146, # 4874 in the Reed Organ Society database. The black walnut cabinet contains five ranks of reeds throughout, plus the SubBase. Our friend Casey Pratt restored this instrument; see his website masonhamlinorgans.com. Performed by Michael Hendron; recorded 12 June (2021), the date upon which this instrument was tuned or approved in 1915.
