In this video, we’re preparing the beloved Patolio – a traditional Goan sweet made using haldi (turmeric) leaves, rice flour, freshly grated coconut, and jaggery. Steamed to perfection, this monsoon delicacy is a festive staple in Goan households during Sao Joao celebrations, especially in villages like Siolim, Chandor, Saligao, and Aldona.

🎉 What is Sao Joao?
Sao Joao is a Catholic festival celebrated in Goa on June 24th, honoring St. John the Baptist. Young men jump into wells and ponds to recreate John’s leap of joy, and Goans cook traditional sweets like Patolio as an offering and celebration of life and abundance.

🍃 Why Patolio?
Patolio is more than just a sweet – it’s a connection to our roots. Prepared by grandmothers and mothers, this dish holds the aroma of Goa’s monsoon and the warmth of tradition.
