THE REJECTION OF THE REDEEMER: Jesus’ Roman Trial Before Pilate and the Jewish Crowd (Matthew 27:15-26)

In this account, Pilate, who despite the revelation he had about Christ, failed to still acknowledge Jesus for who He truly is. He preferred his political career over Christ. The same can be said about the crowd who was gathered for this trial. They followed Jesus around and saw how He has displayed divine authority over demons and sicknesses with His miracles. Yet they still did not acknowledge Him as Messiah. Jesus himself warned: “I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God. But whoever disowns me before others will be disowned before the angels of God.” (Luke 12:8,9 ESV)
