Architectural representation provides an interface to translate information from 2D - 3D and 3D - 2D contexts. This video uses a 2D unfolded pattern to map the faces of a cube from a drawing onto illustration/chip board. By using the 2D cutting pattern to make the shapes of the box you can assemble a cube with a clipped corner, or any other planar shape that can be unfolded.
Your first cube might be rough, the edges might not line up or be square, there might be a lot of messy glue and dirty finger prints. This will improve with practice. Make a few cubes, keep your knife blade fresh and sharp, use tape and small jigs to help with gluing. Practice until you make a clean crisp box, then you will have the skills to make many more architectural models.
