BMC has been criticised by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) after it discovered discrepancies in Mumbai's civic body's financial records. In a report released on Saturday, CAG criticised the Mumbai Municipal Corporation for its lack of planning, lack of openness, and irresponsible use of cash. Concerns about the confidentiality of COVID-19 management expense records were also raised by the auditing agency. Aaditya Thackeray, the leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), retaliated against the Maharashtra government on Saturday in response to the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) report that criticised the functioning and financial management of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and demanded audits of civic organisations in Thane, Kalyan-Dombivali, Nashik, and Nagpur.
