Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Toronto mayor Olivia Chow weighed in on the shocking York Regional Police investigation that alleges Toronto police officers accessed personal information and provided it to people who then carried out crimes, including shootings, extortions and robberies.
Seven Toronto police officers, including one retired member, were arrested among 27 suspects following the major organized crime and corruption investigation called "Project South."
"They're bad actors. They're going to be held accountable," Ford said during an unrelated press conference on Friday.
Meanwhile, the mayor said she would support an independent inspection and review into the investigation so Toronto residents know police "can be trusted."
